Gathering in the Park

Henry Lawson bust - Footscray Hill ParkOnce a year in February, we have a bring-your-own-picnic gathering at Footscray Hill Park near the Stanley Hammond statue of Henry Lawson (left).  The statue was commissionned by the Society and erected in February 1960.  It was to be unveiled by Mrs. Bertha Jago, Henry Lawson's daughter, but she was unable to attend.  Her letter of apology was published in the March 1960 edition of The Lawsonian.

The Gathering is a celebration of Henry's life with renditions of his works, performances by singers and other poetry and prose making it a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

WHERE?  Footscray Hill Park, Ballarat Road, Footscray
WHEN?  Sunday 5 February 2012 from 2.00pm to 4.00pm
